New York, New York – The New York County Lawyers Association (NYCLA) hosted a meeting of bar associations and legal organizations who are all ramping up efforts to defend against escalating attacks against judges, lawyers and the rule of law. The meeting was attended by representatives of more than a dozen groups, who agreed that the current situation requires the legal community to galvanize and work collectively to protect the guardrails of democracy.
“Our nation’s framework–our constitution–depends upon the fundamental principles of judicial authority and judicial independence, due process and the rule of law,” said Adrienne Koch, NYCLA President. “All who attended the summit also agreed that essential to our efforts is our responsibility to keep the public informed, as this constant drumbeat of attacks fuels public cynicism and disengagement.”
