HILLARY CLINTON IS KEYNOTE SPEAKER AT NYCLA’S 90TH ANNUAL BAR DINNER
DECEMBER 10, 2004 – NEW YORK, NY – Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-NY) will be the keynote speaker at the New York County Lawyers’ Association’s (NYCLA) Annual Bar Dinner on Tuesda0y, December 14 at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel. In keeping with the theme of this year’s dinner, “Celebrating Outstanding Women of the Bar,” 50 outstanding women leaders in the legal, corporate and non-profit sectors will be recognized. The Hon. Judith S. Kaye, Chief Judge of the State of the New York, will receive the William Nelson Cromwell Award.
NYCLA’s Board of Directors has conferred honorary NYCLA membership on Senator Clinton, who entered Yale Law School in 1969, the year its university began admitting women. She is the only First Lady ever elected to the Senate. Elected on November 7, 2000, Senator Clinton has made homeland security, economic security and national security her top priorities.
The New York County Lawyers’ Association (www.nycla.org) was founded in 1908 as the first major bar association in the country that admitted members without regard to race, ethnicity, religion or gender. Since its inception, NYCLA has pioneered some of the most far-reaching and tangible reforms in American jurisprudence and has continuously played an active role in legal developments and public policy.
