The American Presidency & the Constitution: A Study in Political Power, the Law & Culture

Recorded On 11/18/2024

COURSE DETAILS

Understand how the actions of the President effect the legal system, as well as how the way society reacts is impacted by the culture of the United States at that time.

Explore the evolving legitimacy of presidential actions, limits on authority, how presidents justify their authority and gain support — or lose it — in an ever-changing society.

Look at how the power of the president has existed in response to a living Constitution which is subject to the cultural norms of the times. And look at the lawyers’ role in supporting or challenging those actions based on the tenor of the times.
