Reproductive Rights in a Post-Dobbs World: What Does the Future Hold?

Start 10/29/2024 - 6:00 PM
End 10/29/2024 - 8:05 PM

COURSE DETAILS

Attorneys, policymakers, and academics working in the field of reproductive rights will survey the current state of litigation, legislation, and policy.

Attorneys representing Planned Parenthood, the Center for Reproductive Rights, and the Lawyering Project will discuss ongoing litigation over state-specific abortion bans; state referenda and ballot proposals concerning abortion rights; and ongoing litigation concerning medication abortion. They will also discuss the implications for abortion rights in a potential second Trump administration or a potential Harris administration.

A representative from the New York Civil Liberties Union (NYCLU) will provide an overview of Prop 1, the equal rights amendment that New Yorkers will be voting on in November, as well as an update on New York’s legislative and policy priorities relating to reproductive rights in the upcoming legislative session.

Professors Cohen and Joffe will serve as our keynote speakers, presenting the research and findings that inform their forthcoming book, After Dobbs: How the Supreme Court Ended Roe But Not Abortion.
