COURSE DETAILS

Please note: this is a video replay that will be held through Zoom. You will receive a Zoom link/call-in information and must join on November 12, 12:30 PM – 1:45 PM.

Join NYCLA’s Center for Corporate Governance and an ALL-STAR panel representing law firms, corporate counsel and the courts as they discuss the importance of diversity in the legal profession. Not only does a diverse bar help ensure that the law is applied fairly and without bias, but attorneys from diverse backgrounds also bring new ideas, experiences and perspectives to the workplace, as well as helping to uphold ethical values.

Our panelists will engage in a extremely interactive discussion, with the focus on how senior women in legal departments, outside law firms and the courts see to it that women and other diverse groups play significant roles in their firms, corporations or the courts. They will discuss how hiring is done to achieve Diversity, Inclusion and Equality goals, as well as the importance of mentorship in helping women and other diverse groups adapt and prosper in a new environment, and how to encourage mentorship. The panel will also discuss the effect of the increase in diverse judges in the New York courts, as well as other hot button issues.
