Since its inception, NYCLA has been at the forefront of most legal debates in the country. We have provided legal education for more than 40 years.
The right to vote is critical to protecting our democracy and, as attorneys, we can play a vital role in insuring free, fair, and accessible elections. This program will feature panelists who will discuss the law and the essential role of attorneys in securing that right.
The session will begin with an overview of the John Lewis Voting Rights Act of New York, the 2021 law enacted to strengthen vote protections against voter suppression, intimidation, deception, obstruction and dilution. Panelists will present concrete steps attorneys can take, both prior to election day and at polling places to ensure that everyone can vote and every vote is counted.
