July 19, 2006 – New York, NY – The Supreme Court, Civil Branch, New York County, is launching a software system in mid September that will give attorneys and litigants unprecedented access to court information and case documents via the internet. Developed in partnership with Hon. Norman Goodman, County Clerk, New York County, the software program, called “Supreme Court Records Online Library” or “SCROLL” will be available by logging on to: www.nycourts.gov/supctmanh.
The program has been created in response to an announcement by Hon. Judith S. Kaye, Chief Judge of the State of New York, to make court documents available online. The Supreme Court, Civil Branch, New York County is one two venues designated in the State to serve as pilot locations for the programs by the Unified Court System.
SCROLL will provide the user, from the convenience of his or her office desktop or laptop, with access to the following in a simple, integrated format: (i) County Clerk data on cases filed in the court; (ii) Court case history data from the Civil Case Information System (CCIS), the court’s internal case history computer system; and (iii) PDF images of key documents in each case (pleadings, decisions and orders, Requests for Judicial Intervention and the like).
The SCROLL program will complement the court system’s electronic filing program by providing additional capabilities, such as the ability to commence cases online, pay filing fees online and serve consenting parties with interlocutory papers by means of the system. The Court offers a two-credit CLE course in the e-filing system at no charge.
