Privacy Policy

The New York County Lawyers’ Association (“NYCLA”) has created this statement (the “Privacy Policy”) in order to demonstrate our commitment to our visitors’ privacy. The following discloses our information gathering and dissemination practices for this web site: www.nycla.org (the “NYCLA Site”).

Personal and Non-Personal Information

NYCLA may use personally identifiable (i.e., addresses, phone number, e-mail addresses) to contact users regarding NYCLA’s activities, seminars, services and products; process requests or orders; and permit members to contact other members. NYCLA may also use non-personally identifiable information (i.e., a user’s browser, computer operating system or Internet service provider) to enhance and improve a user’s use of the NYCLA Site. When using the NYCLA Site, you may be asked to provide certain personal information about yourself for the purpose of applying for membership, membership renewals, registering and paying for continuing legal education seminars, updating member contact information on the membership database, signing up for a committee, submitting a resume or purchasing a NYCLA product. NYCLA will not share any personal information that you provide with any unaffiliated third party without your consent.

Membership Database

NYCLA provides information about its members such as contact information, practices areas or law school attended on a password-protected section of the NYCLA Site that only members may access. Members may access their information contained on the database to review, update, edit or delete such information by using their membership ID number. Additionally, members may decide what information shall be displayed to other members on the membership database (i.e., whether the database will display the member’s home or office address or a member’s legal practice areas).

Cookies

“Cookies” are pieces of information that are placed on an individual’s computer hard drive to enable the individual to more easily communicate and interact with a Web site. NYCLA may use cookies to customize your experience on the NYCLA Site. NYCLA uses cookies to deliver content specific to your interests, to save your password, (if you have registered with us) so you don’t have to re-enter it each time you visit the NYCLA Site, and for other purposes. You may disallow receiving cookies at any time through your web browser. If you disable cookies, however, you will no longer have access to the Membership Directory.
