Understand the issues associated with sex trafficking including debunking the myths that trafficking only involves the crossing of state or national borders and that only foreign nationals can be victims. Learn how victims of human trafficking include men, women, adults and children -- including U.S. citizens and foreign nationals -- and how trafficking can occur entirely within one country, state, city, borough or neighborhood.
Topics to be addressed include:
- The legal framework of trafficking, including NY Anti-Trafficking Laws
- Sex trafficking in NYC: Categories, Forms of Torture
- Preventing disclosure of victimization: Survivors rights
- Progress made: Training, investigations, laws, review of decisions
- Remaining challenges
