Location: 2nd Floor Auditorium Course ID: C061912 Number of Sessions: 1 Credits: 2 MCle Credits 2 MCLE Credits:1 Skills; 1 Professional Practice; Transitional and Non-transitional (also NJ). Course Description:
Mentoring is a critical part of attorney professional development that is often put on the backburner in favor of daily responsibilities on the job. Studies have shown that absent good mentoring, associates do not advance through the ranks as fast or as far as they can with good mentoring support. Finding a good mentor, and being a good mentor to others, is manifestly important to success in the legal workplace and for professionalism in general.
In this program, we will cover:
- Taking control of your professional development by cultivating mentoring relationships
- How to find your ideal mentor (hint: it may not be the mentor that is assigned to you on the job)
- How to integrate lessons learned into the way you practice law and view the legal profession
- How to develop a strong and successful mentoring relationship from the bottom up
- Guidelines for professional and productive mentoring
- How to give back: being the ideal mentor to others as you rise through the professional ranks
